Neon Planet is a Zine comprised of a collection of stories and illustrations from various students. I was the production coordinator and web manager, I designed the front cover, table of contents, intro page,  the text page shown, and biography.

Typobiographies is a book on typographers through history and their contribution to the world of typography. I created the book’s title, designed the dust jacket, little bird press logo, table of contents, text page spreads, vox appendix spread, and biography spread. The 11x17 book contains 90 pages and is hand bounded. 

One Stop Comics is a comic book store in Oak Park, Illinois. I rebranded the whole store including a redesign of the logo, business cards, letterhead, website, as well as oudoor and indoor signage. I designed and created a branding identity manual to easily display my ideas to the client.

The Panels of My Life is a book inspired by my thoughts, experiences, and views on the world of comic books. I give insight about the world of comics through the perspective of a collector. I wrote the book in its entirity, designed the cover, table of contents, intro page, and the page layouts.

“Chicago, Press Start” is a manual that brands Chicago’s “nerdy” places to hang out. I gathered all of the most popular hang out spots for any nerd visiting Chicago. It highlights the places where they can feel the most comfortable in. I wrote all of the content and designed the front and back cover, table of contents, and page layouts.

This is a redesign of the Bodum french press instructions. In this redesign I simplify the current instructions using simple yet effective line graphics, a condensed step by step process and easy to understand written instructions.

P.O. Memo notes is a brand of note pads I created, and designed. These are memo note pads that are silk screened with different patterns. I created the label for the memo note pads and silk screened the patterns. 

Coffee Around the World is an editorial magazine article on the different places coffee is cultivated and comes from. I designed the spreads and shot the photos.

These are three concept ads for the brand Pot O’ Miracle, a lip revitalizing balm. In the ads I wanted to show how lips feel when they are chapped or cracked. I used different textures that are normally associated with harsh surfaces and applied them to the lips, by doing this I wanted to personify the feeling of chapped lips in a visual manner. I used a before and after method in order to furthermore contrast the feeling and benefits of using the product.

This is a redesign project for Dream Beard Oils packaging, a company that caters to bearded men who take their beard seriously. I came up with the concept and designed the front label, back label and bottle labels. The labels are for 3 different skus, one for sensitive skin, normal, and damaged skin. The illustrations for the bears were provided by my friend Keara McGraw at kearamcgrawcreative.com

SereniTEA is a concept for a tea brand who’s essence is “Calm Your Mind.” My concept was to use the practice of aligning chakras to achieve inner peace. I created two varieties of tea, and incorporated one of the chakras into each design by using the name, the symbol of the chakra and the color it is assigned. I decided to use a white sleve and keep the design as simple and clean as possible to evoke the feeling of calmness and serenity.

Canción is a concept for a wine brand. We were prompted to come up with a product that portrayed our brand essence. In this case my brand essence was “live in the present moment.” I decided to show this essence by using graphics that displayed familiar shapes like the sun and clouds. I used monochromatic colors in a way that imitates rythm and evokes a sense of hapiness and being alive.

Rocket Energy is a concept I came up with for an energy drink. I created the identity for the brand and designed the concept for the can, logo, logotype, and the hero shots. I decided to place it in the real world and designed a cooler to house the drink as well as a website, business cards and a pair of ads.

Intergaplastic is a project that was started by my friend Mike Scelfo and myself. It is essentially a designer vinyl toy company. I branded the company designed the logo and came up with the concept for our first vinyl figure, accompanied by packaging for the figure and a pamphlet.

This poster is inspired by my childhood in Mexico and the wrestling popularity that’s embedded in the culture. The poster is mainly inspired by the 1950’s and 60’s posters that would decorate the streets. I took the photographs of the model and designed the poster.

I created these posters with the mind set of having fun while designing and exploring various ways in which I could manipulate photos, colors, and textures. Also, Star Wars!
